History

The Jhargram District Court operates as a judicial entity within the jurisdiction of the Hon’ble High Court, Calcutta. Established on September 30, 2019, following its separation from the Paschim Medinipur Judgeship, the court was inaugurated by the esteemed Former Chief Justice of Calcutta, Thottathil B. Nair Radhakrishnan.

Among the population, 20.11% belonged to Scheduled Castes, while 29.37% belonged to Scheduled Tribes. Linguistically diverse, the district reported that 77.23% spoke Bengali, 18.68% Santali, 1.45% Mundari, and 1.16% Kurmali as their primary language, as per the 2011 census.
